The Opportunity

UArctic seeks its first Executive Director of Development to build, lead, and manage its philanthropy program with a particular focus on engaging prospects and donors in the United States and broader North America. Managing a fundraising team of two colleagues located in Iceland and Finland, the ED will work with organizational leadership and the Board to develop a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising plan focused on departmental infrastructure and the creation of a giving platform that benefits UArctic and its partner organizations. The ED will play a critical role in shaping the philanthropic priorities of UArctic, developing a robust pipeline of donors, and creating and implementing donor-facing communications, materials, and events to engage a network of supporters to spur philanthropic growth.

The successful candidate will bring 10-plus years of fundraising experience, preferably within an environmental or advocacy-based organization. A strategic and creative thinker, the ED will have a track record of building and growing sustainable fundraising operations, as well as proven success soliciting and closing six-figure gifts and above. An understanding of, or experience with, international fundraising is an asset.
