Established in 2003, the University of Massachusetts Amherst Foundation (UMAF) is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to raising philanthropic support for UMass Amherst’s mission and highest aspirations. The Foundation encompasses University Advancement operations, connecting donors with the schools, programs, faculty, and students whose work advances the University.
The College of Natural Sciences (CNS) is UMass Amherst’s largest college, representing nearly one-third of the University’s students, faculty, and alumni. Its 13 departments and two schools span priorities including student success, faculty excellence, research and innovation, scholarships and fellowships, and capital initiatives.
The Opportunity
The College of Natural Sciences enters its next chapter of fundraising with significant momentum. After surpassing its $120 million Accelerate campaign goal and raising more than $142 million, CNS is preparing for UMass Amherst’s next comprehensive campaign with an expanding pipeline and new prospective donors continually being identified.
To build on this success, CNS is creating the inaugural Managing Director of Development, College of Natural Sciences, a senior frontline fundraising and leadership role.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer for CNS, the Managing Director will manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects while supervising and coaching the frontline fundraising team. The Managing Director will identify and cultivate new prospects, strengthen the pipeline, and partner across the College and Foundation to advance philanthropic priorities.
The ideal candidate will bring a record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts, experience mananaging fundraising professionals, and the curiosity and persistence to pursue opportunities beyond established donor relationships. Collaborative, strategic, and accessible, this leader will help CNS build the relationships, talent, and philanthropic foundation for its continued growth.
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $160,000.
