Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT) is one of the nation’s most prominent professional theatres for young audiences, with a 50-year history of artistic innovation, education, and community engagement. Since its founding in 1975, SCT has produced 304 mainstage productions, including 127 world premieres, and reached more than six million young people and families through live theatre and education programs. Its mission is to provide children of all ages access to professional theatre, with a focus on new works and theatre education.
The organization is now advancing a strategic plan focused on expanding the reach of its programs, rebuilding and growing audiences, and investing in its people, operations, and facilities. A new resource-sharing partnership with Seattle Repertory Theatre and a five-year philanthropic campaign planned for 2027 are creating new opportunities for collaboration, growth, and long-term sustainability.

The Opportunity
Seattle Children’s Theatre seeks a Managing Director to serve as its chief administrative and operational executive and co-lead the organization alongside Artistic Director Johamy Morales.
The Managing Director will join SCT at an important point in its evolution, as the organization builds on five decades of artistic leadership while strengthening the financial, operational, and organizational foundation needed for its next chapter. This leader will help translate SCT’s artistic ambition and mission into sustainable growth, bringing together strategy, people, systems, and resources to expand the organization’s impact.
Working closely with the Artistic Director and Board of Trustees, the Managing Director will establish a multi-year approach to financial sustainability and revenue growth, strengthen organizational culture and operations, and build relationships across Seattle’s philanthropic, civic, educational, and cultural communities. The role will also provide leadership for SCT’s upcoming major fundraising campaign and facilities improvements while overseeing an $8 million operating budget and identifying opportunities to diversify earned and contributed revenue.
Externally, the Managing Director will serve as a visible ambassador and fundraiser, expanding SCT’s community impact, audience engagement, and educational reach. Internally, this leader will cultivate a healthy, mission-driven culture built around collaboration, accountability, and shared purpose.
The salary range for this position is $180,000–$220,000.
