LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation), one of the nation’s largest community development intermediaries, connects under-resourced communities with the capital, expertise, and partnerships needed to build lasting opportunity. Founded in 1979 through the Ford Foundation, LISC bridges the gap between capital held by government, foundations, and businesses and the on-the-ground knowledge of residents and local institutions, pairing deep local presence with national scale to drive economic mobility, affordable housing, and systems-level change.
For nearly four decades, LISC Los Angeles has served as a trusted partner to community-based organizations, public agencies, and private-sector institutions across the region. Since its founding in 1987, LISC LA and its affiliates have deployed more than $2.5 billion in grants, loans, and equity investments, leveraging over $6 billion in additional investment and supporting the creation or preservation of more than 18,883 affordable housing units.
