Schools for Children (SFC) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating learning environments that respond to the individual strengths, needs, and potential of every student.
Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Winchester, Massachusetts, SFC operates a diverse portfolio of independent, therapeutic, and extended learning schools and programs serving more than 350 students across Greater Boston. Its approach is grounded in the belief that children learn in different ways and that schools need the flexibility, expertise, and resources to support their success.
The Opportunity
Schools for Children seeks a Chief Executive Officer to guide a diverse educational organization through a period of strategic growth, organizational strengthening, and continued innovation. SFC offers an opportunity to build on more than four decades of educational leadership while ensuring its schools and programs have the resources, support, and flexibility to meet the evolving needs of students and families.
Working in partnership with the Board of Trustees and school and program leaders, the CEO will translate strategic priorities into meaningful organizational progress. This includes building on SFC’s strong financial foundation, enhancing central operations, supporting high-quality educational experiences, and fostering collaboration across SFC’s distinct programs. The CEO will balance the needs and identities of individual schools with an organization-wide perspective, empowering educational leaders while building the systems, culture, and shared purpose that support long-term success.
The successful candidate will be a strategic, collaborative executive with experience leading complex, mission-driven organizations. They will bring strong operational and financial acumen, fundraising experience, and the ability to build trust across diverse constituencies.
Above all, they will be committed to ensuring that organizational decisions remain grounded in the experiences and needs of children, families, and educators.
The salary range for this position is $250,000–$275,000.
