The Opportunity

Lurie Children’s is expanding its clinical and physical footprint while preparing for its next comprehensive campaign, creating an opportunity to build a principal gifts program that matches the institution’s ambitions.

The Foundation seeks an entrepreneurial fundraising leader to serve as its inaugural Senior Director, Principal Gifts. In this role, the Senior Director will be responsible for formalizing the strategy, processes, and infrastructure needed to identify, cultivate, and engage the Foundation’s highest-level prospects.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Development and Campaign, the Senior Director will serve as the architect of the principal gifts program while managing a portfolio of the Foundation’s highest-rated prospects. The Senior Director will develop transformational gift strategies and solicit and close gifts of $10 million or more, while also establishing processes and laying the foundation for robust activity as the program matures.

Success will depend on partnership across a large, complex institution. Working with Foundation colleagues, Board members, volunteers, physicians, and Medical Center administrators, the Senior Director will develop compelling opportunities that connect donor interests with Lurie Children’s priorities.

The ideal candidate will bring a record of securing seven- and eight-figure gifts, the ability to lead in complex environments, and the entrepreneurial instincts to build where formal processes do not yet exist.

The salary for this role is $190,000–$210,000.
