Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) stands as a leading children’s hospital worldwide, with an unrivaled pediatric research program. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Kevin Churchwell as President and CEO and Dr. Nancy Andrews as Chief Scientific Officer, BCH is poised for transformative growth. Boston Children’s Hospital Trust (BCHT), established in 1997, serves as the philanthropic arm of BCH, excelling in fundraising through collaboration with a dedicated staff, a powerful Trust Board, and clinical and scientific faculty leaders. The Trust’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion fosters a supportive and engaged workplace, enabling remarkable revenue growth of approximately $200 million annually.
BCHT is seeking a Vice President of Strategic Giving (VP) to build and implement the organization’s first transformational giving program. The VP will play a central role in coordinating Hospital stakeholders to create and support opportunities that leverage pediatric health for the world. Reporting directly to the President of BCHT, this professional will serve on the Trust’s executive leadership team and work in partnership with the Vice President for Development and Campaign and other senior leaders in major gifts.
The importance of this position was on full display during a 2019 campaign that raised over $1.5 billion and demonstrated the potential for transformational giving at BCHT. Building on this foundation, the VP will develop a formal transformative gift strategy, utilizing their personal and professional networks to implement innovative ideas. Successful candidates will have experience in high-performing fundraising programs within sophisticated, matrixed institutions. While academic medicine fundraising experience is preferred, the ability to excel in a complex, fast-paced organization is vital. BCHT’s results-oriented culture and dedicated staff require a candidate with equal drive, commitment, joy, and a proven track record of closing eight- and nine-figure gifts.
