For more than 40 years, Business Executives for National Security (BENS) has brought the experience and expertise of business leaders to some of the nation’s most complex security challenges. A fiercely nonpartisan organization, BENS connects leaders across the private and public sectors to exchange ideas, develop practical solutions, and strengthen national security.

Since 1982, BENS has served as a trusted partner to senior national security leaders, providing access to an independent network of accomplished executives and entrepreneurs who apply business expertise and best practices to pressing challenges. By fostering collaboration across government, business, and civil society, BENS helps strengthen national security decision-making and preparedness.

The Opportunity

BENS is entering a significant period of fundraising growth as it builds on its longstanding membership revenue and develops a broader philanthropic model.

The Chief Growth Officer will lead this effort, designing and executing a comprehensive strategy to diversify revenue and position BENS for long-term financial sustainability and influence.

Reporting functionally to President and CEO General Tim M. Ray, USAF (Ret.), and administratively to the COO, the CGO will build the major gifts program; expand individual, foundation, and corporate support; identify new revenue opportunities and strategic alliances; and personally cultivate and solicit top prospects.

Working closely with the CEO, Board, and colleagues across the organization, the CGO will translate BENS’s work into compelling opportunities for philanthropic investment and strategically engage organizational leadership in cultivating significant support. The CGO will also lead the Fundraising team, taking a hands-on approach to building the strategy, pipeline, processes, and relationships necessary for sustained growth.

With much of BENS’s philanthropic potential still untapped, this is an opportunity to build a diversified fundraising program with considerable latitude, access to an influential network, and strong organizational support while helping strengthen an institution working at the intersection of business leadership and national security.

This is hybrid position based in Washington, DC with the possibility of remote work from certain other locations.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $150,000 – $165,000, commensurate with experience.
