The Opportunity
UTEP seeks a visionary Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA) to lead its growing advancement program, inspire philanthropy, and elevate the University’s impact.
This leader will oversee a team of dedicated professionals, build strategic alumni and donor engagement, and cultivate a culture of generosity aligned with UTEP’s mission of access and excellence. Reporting directly to the President and serving on the University Cabinet, the VPIA will provide institution-wide leadership in advancing philanthropic priorities, strengthening alumni relations, and stewarding transformative gifts.
The VPIA will develop innovative fundraising strategies informed by data, driven by collaboration, and rooted in storytelling that connects UTEP’s mission with donor aspirations. They will oversee and expand a sustainable fundraising pipeline, coordinate across schools and colleges, and work closely with faculty, leadership, and community partners. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated success in major gift cultivation, campaign leadership, and building high-performing teams.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of a proud Hispanic-serving, R1 research institution that serves as a model of inclusive excellence. For a bold and strategic advancement leader, this is a moment to transform lives, strengthen a University with national impact, and build lasting philanthropic investment in one of the nation’s most distinctive academic communities.
