The Opportunity

The Senior Executive Director for Planned Giving will enter Santa Clara University at a transformational moment, as the institution prepares for an upcoming comprehensive campaign expected to exceed $1 billion.

The Senior Executive Director will serve as the visionary architect of a sophisticated, mission-aligned planned giving program, one that supports Santa Clara’s long-term financial sustainability and enhances its ability to shape future generations of ethical, innovative leaders.

This leader will oversee a high-performing team of Gift Planning Officers, guide complex gift strategies, and cultivate meaningful philanthropic partnerships with alumni, parents, and donors who share a deep commitment to Santa Clara’s Jesuit values. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Individual Giving, the Senior Executive Director will help advance a culture of collaboration across schools, colleges, and centers of distinction, ensuring the planned giving function is fully integrated into University-wide advancement efforts.

With a portfolio of 125 prospects and an annual individual fundraising expectation of $2–$5 million, this role blends strategic leadership with frontline engagement. For an experienced planned giving professional who thrives on developing people, shaping systems, and stewarding transformative gifts, this is a rare opportunity to influence the philanthropic trajectory of one of California’s most respected institutions.

The salary range for this position is $190,000–$200,000.
