The Opportunity

Aurora University is seeking a Major Gift Officer to help advance a growing culture of philanthropy and deepen engagement with alumni and supporters.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, this role is central to expanding the University’s fundraising capacity through strategic relationship-building and thoughtful stewardship. The Major Gift Officer will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, cultivating meaningful one-to-one relationships that lead to significant philanthropic investment, including gifts of $25,000 and above.

This is an opportunity for a motivated and entrepreneurial fundraiser to contribute to a collaborative and forward-looking advancement team. The role requires a balance of strategy and execution, from identifying new opportunities and engaging donors through travel and outreach to partnering with colleagues across campus to align philanthropic priorities with institutional needs.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in major or leadership annual giving, strong communication skills, and a commitment to representing AU’s mission with authenticity and enthusiasm.

As Aurora continues to build momentum under new presidential leadership and a strategic vision focused on innovation and inclusivity, the Major Gift Officer will play a key role in shaping the University’s philanthropic future.

The salary range for this position is $90,000–$100,000.
