The Eviction Defense Collaborative (EDC) is San Francisco’s leading nonprofit dedicated to protecting low-income tenants from eviction and homelessness. Each year, EDC provides emergency legal services and rental assistance to more than 5,000 tenants, ensuring that families and individuals have a fair chance to remain in their homes. As the lead agency for the city’s Tenant Right to Counsel program, EDC plays a pivotal role in safeguarding tenant rights and leveling the legal playing field for vulnerable residents.
EDC’s work goes beyond legal representation. It includes holistic support such as crisis intervention, moving assistance, and connections to vital social and health services. Its Rental Assistance Disbursement Component (RADCo) program further extends stability by providing rental subsidies, security deposits, and long-term financial assistance. EDC’s mission is deeply rooted in the belief that housing is a human right, inseparably linked to advancing racial, economic, and social justice.
