The New York Women’s Foundation (NYWF) is a voice for women and a force for change. A women-led grantmaking institution founded in 1987, the Foundation is deeply embedded in the communities it serves and has become one of the largest women-led philanthropic organizations in the world. With a mission rooted in advancing gender, racial, and economic justice, NYWF mobilizes partnerships, resources, and advocacy to create pathways to equity and opportunity.
The Foundation’s work is distinguished by its commitment to trust-based philanthropy, participatory grantmaking, and intentional inclusivity. By investing early in women-led and community-rooted organizations, NYWF empowers leaders to grow solutions from within their own communities. This approach dismantles barriers, builds agency, and sustains progress well beyond grant cycles. Through philanthropy, collaboration, and impact investing, the Foundation amplifies voices and strengthens movements that shape a just and equitable future.

The Opportunity
At a pivotal moment in its trajectory, the New York Women’s Foundation seeks an accomplished and visionary Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) to advance its mission and lead its development strategy. Reporting to the President and CEO, the CPO will join a dynamic executive team and play a central role in driving the Foundation’s growth and influence.
The CPO will oversee a talented development team, guiding efforts across major gifts, institutional partnerships, planned giving, donor communications, and events. The successful candidate will design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, fostering relationships with donors and partners who share NYWF’s values and aspirations.
With a target of increasing annual fundraising and preparing for the Foundation’s 40th anniversary in 2027, the CPO will be both strategist and storyteller, inspiring philanthropy that fuels community-driven change.
As a highly visible leader within the philanthropic sector, the CPO will partner with the Board, donors, and community leaders to shape the future of NYWF. This role offers the opportunity to join an organization at the forefront of reimagining philanthropy and to help build a more equitable future for women, families, and communities across New York City.
The salary for this role is $250,000.
