Every month, The Chronicle of Philanthropy looks at the who, what, and where of online giving. The results are intriguing.
Human Services groups received the greatest number of donations with 468,611 gifts totaling $59,047,927. Education came in second, with 262,760 contributions totaling $36,867,427. Healthcare received a total of $27.4 million from 232,000 donors. Gifts in amounts of $25 and $50 were the most common across all groups.
California donors gave more than any other state by contributing $10,422,448 to Human Services groups and $41,037,248 to all causes combined. Human Services organizations received more than any other cause in 72.5% of the states.
