Vice President of Development

Camp Sunshine , Remote or Casco, Maine

Located along the pristine shores of Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine, Camp Sunshine provides retreats combining respite, recreation, and support for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Programs are offered year-round free of charge to families and include on-site medical support. Each year, approximately 750 families attend illness-specific sessions where they solidify and renew their relationships while also meeting other families facing similar challenges.

The Opportunity

Camp Sunshine is seeking an entrepreneurial, ambitious frontline fundraiser to serve as its next Vice President of Development. Charged with enhancing Camp Sunshine’s already robust philanthropic portfolio by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects, donors, corporations, and foundations, this individual will thoughtfully and effectively implement best-practice strategies while setting a vision and promoting funding initiatives and opportunities that will fundamentally and significantly increase philanthropic support.

The next VP must embrace the mission of Camp Sunshine and have a minimum of five years of experience in professional fundraising, preferably with a successful, proven track record in the nonprofit space. This leader will demonstrate a knack to work well with staff, board members, and other volunteers and motivate them. Experience working with attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and trust officers in finalizing details of planned gifts is a plus.

Casco is the heart of Maine’s Lake Region. While the VP will spend time in Casco throughout the year, the position can be remote.
