Vice President, Development

American Enterprise Institute Washington, DC

The American Enterprise Institute is a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world. The work of AEI’s scholars and staff advance ideas rooted in a belief in democracy, free enterprise, American strength and global leadership, solidarity with those at the periphery of our society, and a pluralistic, entrepreneurial culture.

After nearly doubling in size and fundraising over the past ten years, AEI is eager to hire an accomplished senior leader to leverage the solid development work that has come before and to build in new areas of opportunity. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Vice President for Development serves as the number two leader for the development team and an active participant in setting strategy for development activities aligned with the mission and culture of AEI.

The Opportunity

A key player in connecting leadership, development, and the work of AEI’s scholars, the Vice President will help forge new relationships to build AEI’s visibility, impact, and financial resources with both new and existing donors. The ideal candidate will have the intellectual curiosity and rigor to translate the research of AEI’s scholars to prospective donors, the fundraising experience and gravitas to build relationships with current donors, and the vision and strategic thinking to expand AEI’s philanthropic success.

The ideal candidate will have superb management skills and experience managing a successful team of young professionals seeking a leader and mentor who will empower team members to improve their professional knowledge, decision-making, and fundraising skills.
