Director of Estate & Gift Planning

The Boston Foundation , Boston, Massachusetts

Using its own resources, The Boston Foundation (TBF) works with donors to increase the impact of their giving. One of the oldest and largest community foundations in the nation, TBF plays a major civic leadership role by funding numerous nonprofit organizations and creating powerful agendas for change. For 100 years, TBF has improved important areas of community life — including dramatic enhancements in education and health; the creation of safe and vibrant neighborhoods; the funding of robust arts and cultural opportunities; and support of a regional economy that enables everyone to thrive. TBF helps to spark the kind of change that makes a city great by nurturing new ideas, encouraging innovation and providing seed capital for dreams.

The Opportunity

The Director of Estate & Gift Planning will focus on growing legacy gifts for TBF’s Permanent Fund for Boston, the fund that fuels all of TBF’s work and provides the resources to bring positive results. This impactful position calls for the management of a comprehensive program for planned and legacy giving, along with the supervision of a planned giving prospect pipeline and development of a communications and marketing plan for stewardship and cultivation of legacy donors. The Director will work both independently and cooperatively with other development and donor services staff, Board members, volunteers, and professional advisors to promote a variety of planned and legacy gifts. A minimum of seven years of successful fundraising for planned gifts is required; major gifts experience is preferred.
