Launched in 1970 at the forefront of the environmental movement, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation’s most effective environmental advocacy and action organization. It is guided by the understanding that protecting the planet is about protecting people—our health, our communities, and our economy. At the core of its mission is a commitment to the belief that a healthy environment should be a basic right for all of us—regardless of where we live, what we look like, or how we vote. And it is relentless in its commitment to defend that right.
NRDC has established three “north star” goals to ensure that the organization meets the challenges of the moment and builds the future it wants: (1) Achieve a climate-positive future; (2) ensure that all generations benefit from the vitality of nature; and (3) protect and promote the health of people and communities.
