Launched in 1970 at the forefront of the environmental movement, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation’s most effective environmental advocacy and action organization. It is guided by the understanding that protecting the planet is about protecting people—our health, our communities, and our economy. At the core of its mission is a commitment to the belief that a healthy environment should be a basic right for all of us—regardless of where we live, what we look like, or how we vote. And it is relentless in its commitment to defend that right.
NRDC has established three “north star” goals to ensure that the organization meets the challenges of the moment and builds the future it wants: (1) Achieve a climate-positive future; (2) ensure that all generations benefit from the vitality of nature; and (3) protect and promote the health of people and communities.
NRDC is seeking a Regional Director of Development to lead its Major Gifts team for the Western region, which comprises the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, the Pacific Northwest and Southwest. Working closely with the National Director, Principal and Major Gifts, the Regional Director will plan, direct, and execute a major gifts strategy for the region in partnership with Donor Relations, Special Events, Membership, and all other development colleagues. This includes the effective deployment of the Western fundraising team, leveraging senior leadership to accelerate giving in the region and personally managing a targeted high-value portfolio of donors.
There has never been a more critical time to build support for an organization that helps create a world where all people have equal access to clean air, clean water, and thriving communities.
The salary range for this position is $175,000-$190,000.
