From its early beginnings in 1943 as the site of the 1,000-bed Camp Fannin Army hospital during World War II through decades of fighting against pulmonary diseases like tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and asbestosis, UT Health Science Center has served the citizens of Texas with distinction.

As UT Health Science Center continues to build on making its dreams a reality, the tradition of excellence and public service that began with a barracks hospital 75 years ago remains a core commitment today. With exceptional patient care, comprehensive education, and innovative research, The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center and UT Health East Texas combine to serve as the University medical center for Northeast Texas and beyond.

The Opportunity

The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center seeks a new Executive Director of Development (EDOD), Health Affairs, who will have an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead a team of development officers supporting all the health sciences, including nursing, health professions, pharmacy, and a brand new school of medicine.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Development and University Advancement, the EDOD will participate in comprehensive strategic fundraising with program administrators and other key stakeholders. The EDOD will be able to hire and train new team members to form high-performing fundraising and engagement strategies for alumni, corporate partners, foundations, and individuals. With a $35 million addition to the School of Nursing and the first two cohorts of medical students funded, there is tremendous momentum and potential growth opportunities abound.

The preferred candidate will be strategic and results-oriented, passionate about raising funds to support public higher education and academic medicine. They will be highly motivated, creative, hard-working, and bring a proven record of fundraising, management, and leadership success.
