The Opportunity

The Director of Family Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in the institution’s ambitious Dare Northward campaign. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director leads a team and is responsible for engaging families of students in supporting the College. This key position involves overseeing the solicitation of gifts from individual parent donors, managing a portfolio of 100 families capable of making gifts of $100,000 and above, and ensuring appropriate stewardship.

The Director collaborates with various stakeholders, including the President, Trustees, senior administration, faculty, and staff members across campus. A strong personal commitment to Colby’s core values and a deep appreciation for the liberal arts college experience are essential for this role.

The Director of Family Philanthropy will contribute to the College’s continued success by building strong relationships with parents, traveling frequently to regional areas for solicitations, and serving as an ambassador for Colby while advocating for leadership support. With qualifications such as fundraising experience, superb communication skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit, the Director of Family Philanthropy is poised to make a significant impact during this exciting period of transformation at Colby College.
