Director of Donor Relations

Chautauqua Institution
Remote Optional + Chautauqua, New York

For nearly 150 years, Chautauqua Institution has been a place where families, friends, couples, and singles gather each summer to relax and renew in a quintessential lakeside community setting that has inspired minds and hearts, solutions, and resolutions. Chautauqua is a global convener of dialogue and debate on the most significant issues of the day through engagement across four programmatic and thematic pillars—arts, education, religion, and recreation. The full impact of Chautauqua is found in the mix of experiences between and among the pillars.

As Chautauquans prepare to celebrate the Institution’s 150th anniversary, they stand as deeply committed as ever to their founding roots and to preserving the treasure in their care. They look ahead more eagerly than ever to explore new ways of bringing their founding mission to life.

The Opportunity

Chautauqua Institution is seeking an experienced constituent engagement and stewardship professional for the role of Director of Donor Relations. This individual will have the opportunity to expand and guide a comprehensive engagement and stewardship system for CHQ’s entire donor constituency, with a specialized focus on stewarding and cultivating individuals toward major and principal giving.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced donor relations professional who has proven success in building solid donor recognition programs based on best practices. The Director must also be able to think boldly and creatively about how to use multiple platforms to engage prospective new donors and acknowledge and retain current donors.

The Director would have an option to be remote (preferably DC) but would need to be in Chautauqua for the entire summer season.
