Regional Director of Development – Eastern Region

Natural Resources Defense Council New York City, New York or Washington, D.C. (East Coast Regional Metro Areas Considered)

Launched in 1970 at the forefront of the environmental movement, the Natural Resources Defense Council is the nation’s most effective environmental advocacy and action organization. NRDC is guided by the understanding that protecting the planet is about protecting people — our health, our communities, and our economy. At the core of its mission is a commitment to the belief that a healthy environment should be a basic right for all of us — regardless of where we live, what we look like, or how we vote. And it is relentless in its commitment to defend that right.

The Opportunity

NRDC is seeking a Regional Director of Development to lead NRDC’s Major Gifts team for the Eastern region, which comprises the New York metro area and the entire East Coast, from Maine to Miami. The Regional Director will build and grow support for NRDC’s planet-saving programs and manage talented teams of major gift officers while carrying a high-value portfolio of donors with capacity to give at the six- and seven-figure levels and continue to develop a donor pipeline.

Working closely with the National Director, Principal and Major Gifts, the Regional Director is expected to plan, direct, and execute a Major Gifts strategy for the region in partnership with Donor Relations, Special Events, Membership, and all other development colleagues. This includes effective deployment of the fundraising team, leveraging senior leadership to accelerate giving in the region, and personally managing. There has never been a more critical time to join the team that helps create a world where all people have equal access to clean air, clean water, and thriving communities.
