The Opportunity

As the Foundation aims to further expand its impact, it is seeking an inaugural Director of Development (DoD) who will play a pivotal role in driving fundraising success and shaping the organization’s future.

The DoD will lead strategic fundraising efforts, engaging with individuals, corporations, and foundations to secure support for the Foundation’s mission. This versatile leader will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive donor cultivation strategy, managing a portfolio of prospects, and closing major gifts. The ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit, experience working with scientists and researchers, and a commitment to advancing nuanced scientific exploration.

The DoD will be instrumental in shaping the Foundation’s future by creating best-in-class processes and driving fundraising success, making a lasting impact on the world of optics and photonics. The role requires exceptional relationship-building skills, collaborative leadership qualities, and a deep understanding and embrace of the Optica Foundation’s mission and values. As a key representative of the organization, the Director will play a crucial role in advancing optics and photonics globally, offering solutions to pressing global challenges like climate change and advancing medical diagnostics.
