The Opportunity

The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) role presents an extraordinary opportunity to join the executive leadership team of a mission-driven and fast-growing nonprofit with global reach.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the CAO will be responsible for designing and executing a long-term advancement strategy, elevating all facets of development, and aligning philanthropic activity with the organization’s strategic goals.

The CAO will guide and mentor a nine-person Advancement team and serve as a thought partner to the President and CEO, Board of Trustees, and senior leadership. With responsibility for all areas of advancement—including major and planned gifts, annual giving, donor communications, and institutional partnerships—the CAO will ensure that fundraising strategy is tightly aligned with organizational priorities and that growth in revenue supports expanded programming, digital reach, and educational offerings.

The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape, a record of major gift success, and a collaborative, forward-thinking approach to team leadership. This is a high-impact opportunity for an advancement professional who is excited to lead with creativity and vision at the intersection of history, identity, and storytelling.
