Baltimore, Maryland

University of Maryland Medical System is a private, university-based regional health system focused on serving the healthcare needs of Maryland. Through partnerships with the System’s different schools, UMMS educates Maryland’s future physicians and healthcare professionals in a range of medical disciplines. Across these many disciplines, UMMS provides care in alignment with its core values of compassion, discovery, excellence, diversity, and integrity. One of the largest private, nonprofit healthcare providers in the mid-Atlantic region, the System’s more than 29,000 employees and 4,600 affiliated providers offer primary and specialty care at 11 hospitals, in more than 150 locations, and through a network of UM Urgent.

The Opportunity

As the University of Maryland Medical System seeks to enhance its position as a national leader in the transformation of healthcare, philanthropy will play a substantial role in ensuring UMMS’s growth and continued excellence. Following the formation of a new Shared Philanthropy Services Office, UMMS is in search of a Vice President to build a foundation that supports transformational giving throughout the entire System.

The Vice President, Shared Philanthropy Services will develop a strategic model of internal support and staffing that organizes and unleashes UMMS philanthropy operations. A strategic collaborator and convener, the Vice President will honor the individuality of the System’s members while upholding its community spirit and standards. In coordination with local foundation Chief Development Officers, the Vice President will lead collaborative, System-wide fundraising and critical operational support to enhance strategic priorities and make large-scale visionary projects possible.

This is an inaugural role that offers the opportunity for a collaborator and change leader to have a profound impact on the delivery of better care in Maryland.
