Vice President for Development

The American University of Paris Remote

For over 60 years The American University of Paris has enjoyed prominence as a private, urban university and a global center for interdisciplinary research and teaching. Throughout its existence, AUP’s mission has been to provide students from all over the globe with a transformational educational experience that crosses disciplines, cultures, and borders. The University achieves this mission by providing its students with a curriculum combining liberal arts inquiry, preparation for professional life, and interactive, student-centered learning in small classroom settings. An AUP education supports cultural fluency, a sense of global engagement, and a capacity to negotiate differences that emerge from diversity.

The Opportunity

AUP seeks a creative and entrepreneurial fundraising professional to lead its alumni relations and development efforts as its next Vice President for Development. The role will appeal to those with an international outlook who are ready to embrace AUP’s mission to provide a global educational experience that produces graduates who will engage in creating a more just and interdependent world.

With the inauguration of President Sonya Stephens in 2022, AUP is poised for growth and enhancement of its academic reputation, while deepening its commitment to the student experience, including residential programming for first-year students. In this newly created role, the VPD will work closely with President Stephens, the Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff to develop a strategic fundraising program that supports AUP’s ambitious plan to offer students a life-defining and transformative education in Europe, preparing them, in the words of the founder Lloyd Delamater, to “bridge the gap of narrow nationalisms.”
