The University of Massachusetts Amherst Foundation (UMAF) is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises philanthropic funds to support the university’s students, faculty, programs, and facilities. As a separate nonprofit entity, UMAF is dedicated to fostering the university’s mission and aspirations. By connecting donors with various university components, including schools, programs, faculty, and students, UMAF facilitates meaningful opportunities that align with both the university’s objectives and donors’ personal goals. Established in 2003, UMAF took on all of UMass Amherst’s advancement functions in 2023, anticipating future growth and promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.

The Opportunity

UMAF is seeking a visionary advancement services leader to be the next Vice President of Advancement Services (VPAS). This is a fantastic opportunity for a knowledgeable, experienced, and entrepreneurial professional to shape the Foundation’s fundraising operations strategy as it prepares for the public launch of its most ambitious campaign to date. To thrive in this role, the VPAS will be a highly collaborative partner who is organized, strategic, process-oriented, and adept at people and project management. The VPAS will oversee prospect management and research, information systems, data analytics, reporting, gift processing, and records management.

The successful candidate will be charged with creating policies and designing systems to optimize the Foundation’s infrastructure. The VPAS will be a self-starter and have demonstrated success in complex organizations as well as a commitment to creating and promoting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace environment. Importantly, the Foundation seeks a person of integrity, character, and sound judgment who is dedicated to the mission and values of the UMass Amherst Foundation.
