organization, The Phoenix Symphony, believes in the power of music to
transform, inspire, and revitalize communities. The Symphony reaches 300,000
people each year, including 125,000 children and families, through its concerts
and educational presentations. In addition to classical and pops concerts and
family events, The Phoenix Symphony has developed innovative community programs
in schools, homeless outreach centers, healthcare organizations and
collaborates on an Alzheimer initiative with Arizona State University. The Phoenix
Symphony is committed to using the joy of music to create healthier
communities, a strong cultural economy, and an engaged next generation of
citizens. It is a pioneer, that is both reinventing itself and the arts scene
in which it operates.

The Opportunity

The Phoenix
Symphony is seeking a Chief Development Officer with an entrepreneurial
spirit who can provide strategic direction and leadership for a full range of
development activities including major gifts, corporate giving, foundations,
and planned giving. The person accepting this senior position will use their
experience in campaigns and major gifts to lead the organization’s $8M capital campaign, Thrive:
A Campaign to Strengthen Arizona
’s
Cultural Economy.
The Chief Development Officer will play an important role
on the executive leadership team and will serve as an ambassador, representing The
Symphony at events. A minimum of eight years of nonprofit development
experience is required; a musical background is preferred.
