Senior Vice President for University Advancement

Boston College , Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts

Founded in 1863, Boston College is among the nation’s foremost universities, a leader in the liberal arts, scientific inquiry, and student formation. Grounded in the ideals that inspired its Jesuit founders, Boston College urges students to look inward but always to reach out — to develop their minds and talents to the fullest and use them in service to others. It builds upon its traditions and seeks to be the national leader in the liberal arts; to fulfill its Jesuit Catholic mission of faith and service; to continue to develop model programs to support students in their formation; and to seek solutions — as researchers, educators, leaders, and caregivers — that directly address the world’s most urgent problems.

The Opportunity

Boston College seeks a seasoned leader with demonstrated success as a highly strategic thinker and accomplished Advancement professional to serve as its next Senior Vice President for University Advancement (SVPUA). As the College prepares to launch a multi-billion-dollar comprehensive campaign, the SVPUA will be called upon to lead a best-in-class program with a high-performing staff with compassion and humility. They will be charged with developing meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders rooted in collaboration, transparency, and mutual respect. Demonstrated success working within a complex environment that includes world-class research, competitive Division I athletics, and a strong commitment to the student experience is essential. The SVPUA will help determine strategic priorities for the next campaign in close collaboration with the University’s long-tenured academic and administrative leadership team. Additionally, the SVPUA must have a track record of successfully using data to inform ambitious strategy and goals; developing and facilitating relationships resulting in transformative gifts; working closely with trustees, academics, and administrative leadership, and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging efforts.
