Major and Planned Giving Officer

Chautauqua Institution , Remote Optional + Chautauqua, New York

For nearly 150 years, Chautauqua Institution (CHQ) has been a place where families, friends, couples, and singles gather each summer to relax and renew in a quintessential lakeside community setting that has inspired minds and hearts, solutions, and resolutions. Chautauqua is a global convener of dialogue and debate on the most significant issues of the day through engagement across four programmatic and thematic pillars — arts, education, religion, and recreation. The full impact of Chautauqua is found in the mix of experiences between and among the pillars.

As Chautauquans prepare to celebrate the Institution’s 150th anniversary, they stand as deeply committed as ever to their founding roots and to preserving the treasure in their care. They look ahead more eagerly than ever to explore new ways of bringing their founding mission to life. To that end, Chautauqua will launch a significant comprehensive campaign.

The Opportunity

Chautauqua Institution is seeking a creative and collaborative development professional to serve as its next Major and Planned Giving Officer. As a member of the Advancement team, this role will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors. They will build and strengthen philanthropic resources for Chautauqua Institution, as well as grow and enhance both the major and planned gift programs.

The successful candidate will be an innovative, intellectually curious, and broad thinker. They will successfully secure major and planned gifts, while viewing all work through the lens of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA), inspired by Chautauqua’s ambitious new strategic plan 150 Forward.
