Throughout the global health crisis, Howard University continues to set record-breaking numbers, having closed eight out of the nine largest gifts in the University’s 153-year history. July 2020 sent an incredibly powerful signal to the philanthropic community at large with a remarkable $40 million gift, the single greatest ever received by the University. The new fiscal year entered with extraordinary momentum, as the University has secured over $100 million in philanthropic investment in just the first six months and alumni giving has increased by 80%. The Opportunity
Serving as the most senior member of the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relation’s leadership team, the Associate Vice President, Chief Operating Officer will oversee a growing department of 40-plus staff and be responsible for a broad range of day-to-day development activities.
Managing a high-functioning team and providing strategic leadership for a fundraising campaign, this individual will also serve as a principal-level fundraiser. This includes working in partnership with the Vice President to develop annual, multi-year, and campaign strategies for the University and provide a comprehensive vision of a sophisticated donor landscape.
