Founded in 1900, the National Cathedral School (NCS) is the preeminent single-sex college preparatory school in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. With its mission to “believe in the power of young women and educate them to embrace our core values of excellence, service, courage, and conscience,” NCS produces students who roundly report graduating with robust critical thinking skills and an ability to use their voices to produce and advance good in the world.
NCS is preparing for the largest campaign in the school’s history. The team is ready and eager for the strategic planning and leadership that will pave the way for true relationship cultivation and stewardship with the broader NCS community. As the school prepares to move into a multimillion-dollar endowment campaign, the Head of School will look to this fundraising professional to amplify the National Cathedral School’s culture of generosity and further elevate the school’s seven-figure annual giving program to one that is transformative for the goals and mission of the school.
NCS is seeking a Head of Development and Philanthropy (HDP). Working in partnership with and reporting directly to the Head of School, the HDP will build a strategically minded and mission-driven Board, inspiring and supporting gift solicitation. This role will be responsible both for developing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support NCS’s philanthropic priorities and a culture of philanthropy within the community. The HDP will build, manage, and lead a team of development professionals in annual giving, alumnae relations, and development operations; bringing creative strategies to enhance messaging and engagement of alumnae, their parents, and their grandparents.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge and prior success in campaigns, major and principal gifts, annual giving, and volunteer engagement. This individual will be skilled at raising loyalty and interest, in addition to funds, and be able to speak meaningfully about the NCS of today to bridge the NCS of the past and future.
