The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) raises funds and manages partnerships to support the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in making important discoveries that improve health and save lives. With its partners, the FNIH works to accelerate biomedical research and strategies to fight against diseases in the United States and across the world. An independent not-for-profit organization chartered by Congress, the FNIH creates and implements research programs, supports education and training of new researchers, organizes educational events and symposia and secures funding that addresses a wide range of health challenges.

The Opportunity

The FNIH is seeking a leader who will advance its individual giving program, which includes building an endowment to support aspects of the Foundation’s programs and operations. Reporting directly to the President and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Individual Giving & Donor Relations will develop and implement a comprehensive, results-oriented plan focused on scaling-up individual major and planned giving, as well as encompassing annual fund and workplace giving. Leading a team of six fundraising and events professionals, the Director will possess the ability to deal effectively with various constituents, staff and Board members, along with the visionary thinking that will drive organizational objectives, foster innovation, advance biomedical science and promote creativity. A minimum of 10 years of experience in fundraising with demonstrated increased responsibilities is required; familiarity with organizations devoted to research, science and/or medicine is preferred.
