Founded in 1970, University City Children’s Center (UCCC) today reflects the founders’ visionary desire to create a safe, nurturing environment where children from different socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds can learn and play together in an atmosphere that is respectful of diversity and individuality. LUME Institute is an early childhood education research and professional development provider and believes the power to change society lies in changing the way young children are taught. LUME grew out of UCCC in 2012 in response to frequent requests from other early care and education providers who wanted to learn the practices that make UCCC successful with children and sought after by families.
