The Opportunity
Southern Methodist University seeks a bold, strategic, and sophisticated Director of Development to lead the Dedman School of Law’s fundraising activities. The Director will join the SMU community following the public launch of Ignited: Boldly Shaping Tomorrow, the University’s $1.5 billion comprehensive campaign, and will work in partnership with recently appointed Dean Jason Nance to execute his vision for the School. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced advancement professional to partner with a new and energetic dean at a particularly pivotal moment for the Dedman School of Law. The Director will execute annual goal-setting and strategic planning activities, as well as manage the School’s campaign operations and its campaign cabinet.
An ideal candidate must possess superior communications skills and emotional intelligence while having the ability to work diplomatically with experienced staff and dedicated volunteers. A Juris Doctor is not required; however, the best-matched candidate will have previous experience at a law school or a strong understanding of the legal profession.
