The mission of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, based at the University of Washington is to deliver timely, relevant, and scientifically valid statistical evidence and data about the global burden of diseases, injuries, and risk factors. IHME’s research and findings are used to affect policy and approaches to combatting disease and injury around the world. Since its founding in 2007, IHME’s vision has been to make an impact on global public health that helps all people live healthier, longer lives.

The Opportunity

IHME has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, accomplished, and passionate advancement professional to serve as its inaugural Chief Philanthropy Officer. The CPO will be the chief fundraiser for individual gifts to support new, innovative projects at IHME. The CPO will be a member of IHME’s highly accomplished, dynamic, and fast-moving senior management team, one that is heavily invested in the success of the fundraising enterprise and will serve a critical role in helping the Institute achieve its strategic priorities and foster a culture of philanthropy. They will also have a collaborative, “dotted-line” relationship with the UW Medicine advancement office.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual to lead and grow IHME’s individual donor fundraising program. Reporting to IHME Director Christopher J.L. Murray, the CPO will connect donors’ interests in global health to IHME’s work and impact. Ideal candidates will have both an interest and in-depth knowledge of global public health and evidenced-based research while sharing in IHME’s mission to make a positive impact on health around the world.
