Launched in 1970 at the forefront of the environmental movement, the Natural Resources Defense Council is the nation’s most effective environmental advocacy and action organization. The Opportunity

The Chief Development Officer will raise support from across the individual and institutional philanthropic landscape to sustain and grow NRDC’s critical work. Leading an extraordinary team of fundraisers and partnering with a new President and CEO, this CDO will advance NRDC’s position to confront the challenges to our environment with integrity, honesty, collaboration, and the unwavering pursuit of fairness, equity, and justice.

The CDO will also take to the finish line NRDC’s most ambitious fundraising endeavor in its history, the For Our Future. Now. campaign. Launched in July 2018, the campaign is a seven-year, $1 billion-dollar effort to elevate and sustain NRDC’s operating revenue to a new and steady state of support. In 2020, a $100 million grant from the Bezos Earth Fund secured the campaign’s crossing the halfway mark to a total raised so far of $700 million.
