Impact Water is a mission-driven organization dedicated to ensuring that safe drinking water is a human right accessible to all, with a particular focus on schools across Africa. Originating from a research center at the University of California, Berkeley, the organization embodies a spirit of innovation and enterprise in the realm of international health and development. By leveraging entrepreneurial approaches, Impact Water has managed to deliver reliable, low-cost water purification technologies to 40,000 schools across three countries.
With a focus on sustainability and scalability, Impact Water’s entrepreneurial model has allowed it to find innovative and practical solutions to an important global development need. Their collaborative efforts with local administrators, government leaders, manufacturers, businesses, nonprofits, and impact investors exemplify a dynamic and market-based approach to addressing complex challenges in the delivery of safe water services. In a strategic move to enhance the breadth of its mission, Impact Water recently shifted from a social enterprise model to a nonprofit organization, reaching a larger audience and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
To support its transition to a philanthropic funding model that will expand its reach and deepen its impact, Impact Water is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO). The CAO will be instrumental in diversifying funding to scale operations, with targets to reach 40 million children by 2025 and 100 million by 2030.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director and Board Chair and working with a high-energy, global team based in the United States, Uganda, Kenya, and Nigeria, the CAO will develop and implement a comprehensive external funding strategic plan to fuel Impact Water’s growth. This plan encompasses philanthropy, communications, external affairs, and outreach to various stakeholders, including individual donors, high-net-worth investors, foundations, corporations, and multilateral agencies.
The position is ideal for a candidate with a sincere commitment to Impact Water’s mission, coupled with a proven track record of successful philanthropic fundraising and the ability to build and manage effective teams, all while upholding the organization’s values of integrity and transparency. With a focus on relationship management, the CAO will identify, engage, and build relationships with major prospects, overseeing donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Additionally, the CAO will lead the growth of the development team needed to achieve Impact Water’s strategic goals.
The salary range for this position is $200,000 – $250,000 commensurate with experience.
