National Comedy Center Remote, Preference for New York, New York or Los Angeles, California

The National Comedy Center is the United States’ congressionally designated cultural institution dedicated to presenting and presenting the story of comedy and preserving its heritage for future generations. Based on comedy legend Lucille Ball’s vision for her hometown to become a destination for the celebration of comedy, the Center’s exclusive collections, world-class exhibits, and cutting-edge technology educate, inspire, and entertain visitors across more than 37,000-square-feet of exhibit space, offering an interactive journey through comedy history, from early vaudeville to the latest viral memes.

As a non-profit cultural institution, the National Comedy Center celebrates comedy’s great minds and unique voices in ways that educate, inspire, and entertain, while providing an examination of the time-honed creative processes that have elevated comedy to an art. USA Today named the National Comedy Center the “Best New Museum in the Country,” Time magazine designated the Center one of the “World’s Greatest Places,” and People magazine named it one of “100 Reasons to Love America.”

The Opportunity

The National Comedy Center seeks an energetic and accomplished fundraising leader to join its leadership team as Chief Advancement Officer (CAO). The CAO has overall responsibility for planning and implementing the total fundraising program of the NCC. This is an exciting opportunity to be the architect of campaigns and, alongside the Executive Director and with the support of the senior leadership team, create a comprehensive strategy to build the endowment and raise funds for project- or program-specific needs.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, proactive, and strategic with a proven track record of securing major and principal gifts. As a visible member of the center’s national community, the CAO must have professional acumen and strong communication skills to successfully engage various groups and constituencies.

While the museum and its core operations team are based in Jamestown, New York, the National Comedy Center leadership team and several long-time contractors include remote personnel based in Chicago, New York, LA, the Bay Area, and more. As the National Comedy Center’s fundraising efforts must be focused on the comedy community nationally, particularly in Los Angeles and New York, this is an ideal opportunity for remote employment, with a preference for Los Angeles- or New York-based candidates.
