For over 100 years, Boston Children’s Museum (BCM) has engaged children in joyful discovery experiences that instill an appreciation of our world, develop foundational skills, and ignite a lifelong love of learning. Since BCM’s founding, 25 million children and their families have visited this world class museum, seeking joyful experiences rooted in discovery, play, social interaction, and creative exploration. Today, the Museum’s multisensory, hands-on, child-centered environment continues to engage, amaze, and entertain at its beautiful waterfront museum and park in Boston’s vibrant Innovation District. As one of the largest children’s museums in the world, BCM also provides museum consulting services and creates award winning traveling exhibits, staff training curriculum, and exhibit kits for Museum professionals.

The Opportunity

BCM is seeking a Vice President, Development to take individual giving to new levels and expand the base of enduring support for BCM’s vision to “Create the Children’s Museum of the 21st century.” Reporting to the President and CEO, and serving as a key member of her executive leadership team, the Vice President of Development’s primary focus is to design and implement a dynamic program of actions to increase the amount of development funding that will power and sustain the next generation of innovation at BCM. The ideal candidate has major gift solicitation experience, having personally secured major donations (6 to 7 figures) and experience leading a team focused on the support necessary for successful fundraising.
