Stanford University is a wellspring of new ideas and innovative solutions, where curious people come to make a difference. Since its founding in 1885, the university has been known for its entrepreneurial character and the leaders it prepares to thrive in a complex world. The campus provides a workspace for about 2,700 employees (including three of the university’s eight vice presidents) working in critical areas such as the School of Medicine administration, libraries and archives, business affairs, human resources, development, and Land, Buildings, and Real Estate.
The Opportunity
Stanford University seeks a skilled Assistant Vice President, Total Rewards (AVP), who will be a strategic and collaborative partner as University Human Resources (UHR) begins implementing transformational processes and programs. UHR will soon embark on a systems implementation and multi-year strategic plan to advance Stanford’s reputation as the best-led, best-managed university in the world. To advance the institution’s vision, The AVP will lead Stanford’s Benefits and Compensation operations and team, positioning the university as an employer of choice. The AVP will steer total rewards strategies, policies, and programs and deliver effective communication strategies to ensure employees, managers, and leaders understand the value of the total rewards program. The goal as a leader in UHR will be to carry out the university’s strategy and long-range HR strategic business plans.
The AVP will provide strategic, operational, and compliance oversight and expertise in the areas of executive and staff compensation, as well as comprehensive benefits – helping the Stanford community do what they do best — focus on research innovation to benefit humanity, manage efficient academic and administrative operations, and facilitate deep learning by the students who are our future leaders.
