For over 30 years, Horizons for Homeless Children has been at the forefront of providing services for families experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts. The organization works to help alleviate the trauma and stress of homelessness on both children and their families by providing high-quality early education, vital opportunities for play, support for parents, and crucial advocacy on behalf of some of our most marginalized citizens. With an organizational vision of “Every homeless child will have the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive,” Horizons’ impact is significant, meaningful, and more critical than ever.

The Opportunity

The Assistant Vice President for Development (AVP) will play a crucial role within Horizons for Homeless Children’s development team. Leading a highly productive group of development professionals, the AVP will oversee the strategy, planning, and implementation of a comprehensive giving program, covering annual, major, planned, and principal giving, along with successful signature events.

Horizons receives strong support from both corporate and foundation donors, as well as individuals, and aims to broaden its impact by engaging donors in more meaningful ways. With a growing need for its transformative services, Horizons aims to exceed $10 million in annual fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Chief of Advancement and Strategic Partnerships, the AVP will collaborate closely with a range of colleagues to ensure the success of this critical work.

The ideal candidate must understand fundraising best practices, possess experience with high-net-worth individuals, and excel in fast-paced environments while leading a team. Diligent communication, leadership, and adaptability are crucial, along with a strong belief in Horizons’ mission and a commitment to utilizing fundraising strategies for impactful change.
