For 60 years, the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University (IHS) has supported and partnered with scholars advancing the ideas that underlie the Good Society, a tolerant and pluralistic society in which individuals and communities thrive in a context of intellectual openness, prosperity, peaceful cooperation, and mutual respect. With roots in the classical liberal tradition, IHS supports a diverse community of liberal scholars—classical liberal, left-of-center liberal, and small-government conservative scholars—committed to advancing progress on foundational questions and key challenges shaping the course of the 21^st century.
