Director of Development, U.S.

World Health Organization Foundation
Remote United States

The World Health Organization Foundation was launched in 2020 as an independent Swiss foundation headquartered in Geneva to advance the mission of the World Health Organization (WHO). Operating as a bridge between WHO and private partners, the WHO Foundation mobilizes resources and collaborations that expand WHO’s ability to protect global health and respond to crises. Its innovative funding and partnership models attract philanthropists, foundations, corporations, and individuals to support WHO’s most urgent and strategic priorities.

Affiliated with but legally separate from WHO, the Foundation ensures the neutrality and integrity of WHO’s work while unlocking new pathways for innovation, investment, and impact. By aligning resources with WHO’s mission to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable, the WHO Foundation plays an indispensable role in addressing global health inequities and building a healthier future for all.

The Opportunity

The Director of Development, U.S. (DOD) will join the World Health Organization Foundation at a time of growth and opportunity. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the DOD will shape and execute a strategy to build the Foundation’s presence in the United States and lead its engagement with major donors, corporations, and foundations.

As a senior leader, the DOD will oversee a U.S.-based team of three and serve as a key architect of the Foundation’s philanthropic expansion across the country. The role calls for a visionary, entrepreneurial fundraiser who can cultivate transformative partnerships and secure seven- and eight-figure investments in support of WHO’s life-saving work.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of fundraising leadership in a complex or global organization, deep familiarity with the U.S. philanthropic landscape, and the ability to engage high-level stakeholders in advancing global health equity.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a fast-growing foundation for a high-profile organization with a mandate to drive innovation and impact on a global scale.

The salary range for this role is $200,000 – $250,000.
