The American Antiquarian Society (AAS) is a national research library and community of learners dedicated to discovering and sharing a deeper understanding of the American past. Through wide-ranging programs, community engagement, and fellowship support for scholars and artists, the Society sustains communities of humanistic inquiry both locally and nationally.

AAS’s collection of books, pamphlets, broadsides, newspapers, literature, and graphic arts shine light on the experiences and expression of Americans from all backgrounds, and upon both everyday life and every significant development in the history and culture of the United States before 1900.
