Shockingly, in Board Source’s biannual “Leading with Intent: A National Index of Nonprofit Board Practices,” it was reported that only two-thirds of executives believe their boards understand their responsibilities. Without comprehending its role, a board cannot meet the organization’s needs effectively.

Some boards make it the only priority and it obscures all other responsibilities. The other extreme is a board that is unwilling to participate in fundraising. Neither scenario benefits the organization.
