Executive Director, Annual Giving The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

The George Washington University (GW) is an institution with a world-class reputation positioned at the heart of America’s political system. GW is building its future with a plan to increase philanthropic support to enable the University to realize its full potential in education and research. To achieve that goal, President Thomas LeBlanc and Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations Donna Arbide are expanding the Department of Development and Alumni Relations by hiring a select group of innovative, entrepreneurial, and intrepid development leaders to head major initiatives throughout the University.

The Opportunity

The Executive Director, Annual Giving will build and lead a best-in-class annual giving program, connecting with nearly 400,000 GW alumni around the world, motivating and inspiring them to give back to their alma mater. With much of the university’s core functions and operations depending on alumni giving including financial aid, faculty salaries, and academic programming, the role is critical to providing University President Thomas LeBlanc the necessary funds to respond to emerging needs and to focus on ongoing priorities. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a bold leader who has the vision to build something new paired with the experience to elevate strong teams to the next level. The ideal candidate is a talented, flexible, and collegial Executive Director of Annual Giving who will escalate annual giving and increase total number of donors to mirror the exceptional reputation of the University.
