Founded in 1925 by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, Xavier University, America’s only Historically Black and Catholic University, is located in the heart of historic downtown New Orleans in a quiet neighborhood dotted with bungalows. As one of the leading Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the country, Xavier continues to promote a more just and humane society by preparing its students to assume roles of leadership and service in a global society.

The Opportunity

As Xavier launches its Centennial Campaign, the University seeks a strategic, visionary, and entrepreneurial Major Gifts Officer to help propel the continuing success of one of the best educational experiences available to students from all socio-economic backgrounds in the United States. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for engaging donors and closing gifts to support Xavier’s current and future fundraising objectives under the direction of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

The successful candidate will coordinate effectively with key stakeholders across Xavier’s diverse academic, research, alumni, advisory board, and staff communities to achieve the shared objectives of the University’s Centennial Campaign and Strategic Plan. In addition to major gift responsibilities, the position also requires an understanding of the integration of your work with planned, annual, and institutional (corporate and foundation) fundraising in a modern university setting.
