Director of Development

Public Education Foundation, Remote or Chattanooga, Tennessee

The Public Education Foundation (PEF), a community-based organization, supports the transformation of public education so that every student is prepared for success. For over 30 years, PEF has created dozens of collaborative partnerships that have provided extraordinary opportunities to public school students, teachers, and principals. PEF earned national acclaim for the Benwood Initiative, a 10-year effort that transformed the region’s nine lowest-achieving elementary schools. The organization has also been instrumental in creating and managing a principal leadership academy, a teacher residency for college graduates, the world’s largest network of school-based digital fabrication labs, and Camp College, a summer program that has helped well over 1,000 students become the first in their family to go to college. Intentionally focused on equity, PEF is a nationally recognized leader in developing effective initiatives that transform the lives of students.

The Opportunity

The Foundation seeks an extraordinary individual gifted at building relationships to be its Director of Development to expand and diversify its donor base and amplify its presence, reach, and impact within the communities PEF serves. The Director will develop a strategic, comprehensive fundraising plan to boost annual philanthropic revenue from individuals, corporations, and foundations, and will partner with leadership to craft consistent and compelling donor communications in this effort.

A creative, entrepreneurial thinker, the successful candidate will also possess the political savvy and deep relational skills necessary to advance PEF’s mission and vital role in the Chattanooga community.
