Since its founding in 1927, the Boy Scouts of America – Greater New York Councils remains one of New York City’s strongest nonprofit organizations serving the city’s children and youth. As one of the few remaining purely urban Scout Councils, the BSA-GNYC has helped over five million young people become “Prepared for Life.” Serving the five boroughs of Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, the Councils have served 21,000 youth, almost a third of NYC’s total youth population.
The Opportunity
Boy Scouts of America – Greater New York Councils seeks a Chief Development Officer who is an innovative and entrepreneurial development professional. Reporting to Saroya Friedman-Gonzalez, newly appointed BSA-GNYC President & CEO, the CDO will be responsible for building and leading a comprehensive fundraising plan to increase and diversify philanthropic support. The CDO will support the mission, vision, and advancement of scouting in New York City while leveraging the unique urban and diverse New York Community to move this esteemed organization into the 21st century.
Successful candidates will have experience working in New York City’s philanthropic arena and possess a clear understanding of all aspects of development, including annual, major, and planned giving along with corporate and foundation fundraising.
